Trying my hand

at something different.

Remember the little piece of embroidered linen I found in the charity shop?  There were areas where the existing embroidery needed securing and I need to fill in some bits that are missing. I also have plans to embroider #1's initial in the centre using one of the flowered monogram templates from needlenthread.com.

I braved my not-so-friendly LYS this morning and bought some matching embroidery threads...

and this afternoon I'm going to sit down and see if I'm capable of embroidery.  I haven't tried for years, but I did make this many moons ago (I suspect I may have had help)...

Edited to add: LYS = local yarn shop

  1. Lovely. I really want to embroider but don't want to learn all the stitches involved. I'd rather just wing it as I go along. Have a wonderful, creative weekend. Tammy

  4. I would love to be able to embroider !! I've done croos stitch but thats about all .
Had to smile at your LYS comment...sounds like mine !! There's so much stuff in it ( all wrapped in plastic ) that you have to ask for help and then get rushed into making a decision .

  8. your embroidery looks great! i can't wait to see the flowered monogram.

too bad your lys isn't friendly. i am always intimidated by yarn shops even though i love them so. i can't help feeling like an outsider when i walk into a shop with a group of people sitting together chatting. i feel like i've interrupted!
