As I've had a teeny tiny mention in a magazine (one of 3 crochet blogs listed - I am gobsmacked but immensely flattered) I thought this crochet blog better actually display some crochet!
I have the beginnings of what was going to be a bedspread, but I think it may now become a cushion. I love this motif, but am not keen on working the joining round. The motif is from the 'Sunshine and Shade' throw by Katherine Eng. One of the reasons I've been a bit disheartened about this project is that the yarn is pure wool and I share my house with clothes moths. What do they love to chomp on the most? You guessed it, wool. If I make this blanket, it could just end up being eaten...
I have a piece of thread crochet work destined for the last of my boring plain cushion covers. So very nearly finished, but the thought of blocking (essential) is putting me off...
I am partway through a doily, the design of which is based on a window in a French cathedral (can't remember which one, I'm afraid). I started this when I had lost the urge to crochet on the basis that just crocheting something/anything might bring the urge back. It didn't and I am guessing something more fun and colourful might have worked better...
I am also in the middle of making a set of potholders to hang on the wall. Some are finished, but I was waiting for the full set before doing a reveal...
I have a set of teeny tiny thread motifs that I have a plan for, but I need 7 motifs. If my plan for these works out I think it is going to be one of my favourite things...
So much to finish, so little time. I'd better get on...

It's all looking gorgeous. I just saw crochet doilies on mason jars on Facebook, think I'll try those.
ReplyDeleteYou have my sympathy re the clothes moths, we have carpet beetles...who weirdly don't really live in carpets, but love loft spaces, and since we had the loft converted they have found their way into one of my fabric storage baskets under the bed (they apparently love dark spaces like underbeds)They munched some of my precious stash of wool interlock. :0(

I think the doilies are my fav, because they are such teeny, tiny stitches ( and you must have the patience of a saint!)

I was thrilled to see you and attic24 mentioned in Mollie Makes, (I follow you both!) your WIP's are fab!
ReplyDeletei think its important to ones creativity to have lots of different projects on the go, I have only one crochet WIP going on at the moment, I was loving it at first but now its becoming a teeny bit tedious!!
can't wait to see them all finished!
Beautiful wips. Love the idea of the bolster cushion. Can't wait to see that finished. x
ReplyDeleteHi Victoria
ReplyDeleteRe: Barcelona Skirt and sizing, I sussed out that being an American pattern their sizing is different! I am a size 12/14 and came up as XL when I measured myself! Not good for one's self esteem I must say!! So I cut it out and it just fell off me (what a relief)so I just pinned it to fit me and madeit from there. Once I finised it I measured it up against the pattern and marked on the tissue pattern paper where my sizing was and now I now where to cut my next skirt. A very long winded way I know (and waste of fabric) but at least I know now. I've never had a problem with pattern sizing before but then I've never used an American pattern before so this has been an interesting exercise for me. Hope that makes sense and helps xox
I say it again you are the crochet and doily queen. We can't let you get away with being so modest about the MM mention. How many crochet blogs are out there? They picked you obviously because of things like the above.
ReplyDeleteHope I can hook like you when I grow up!!
x
I saw you in MM too! Congratulations! The thread cushion covers are so intricate and beautiful. No wonder you were in the magazine!
ReplyDeleteI saw your name in MM as well - congratulations!!

ReplyDeleteWell done for being in the magazine! I was surprised to find that I was already following all 3 of the blogs that were mentioned..! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love that green potholder, such a lovely shape. I want to do something similar myself.

ReplyDeleteHOLY GUACAMOLE!!!!! It's a crochet feast! Hurry up and finish something soon, I (selfishly) want to see something in it's full glory. Just popped back up to see which item I most impatient to see, can't decide, maybe the doily. Loving doilies at present.
