And so the countdown begins...

Well, in truth, it started a couple of weeks ago when I made the Christmas cake and started squirreling away stocking fillers*, but this week I've made some snowflakes...

several doily imprinted Christmas decorations using Fimo. (but wouldn't they make great gift tags too?)..

and, just this morning, Christmas chutney. Don't the contents of this pan say Christmas to you?

Cranberries, apple and dates. Then satsuma zest and juice, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and cayenne pepper. Some of this will be given away, but there'll be a couple of jars kept back for us.  It really couldn't be easier to make and you can find the recipe here.

Whilst perusing Nigella's Christmas book I chanced upon the recipe for sticky gingerbread. How could I resist? I had some apples left over from making the chutney so we'll be having gingerbread and stewed apples for pudding tonight. Just what you need on an, erm, unseasonably warm November day!

Hope you're all having a great weekend x

  5. beautiful snowflakes Victoria, I'm scared of 'skinny yarn' crochet but would love to make a doily of sorts one day. I love love love your doily imprinted decorations, please can I ask what materials you used to make them. They look like a perfect gift to give to friends and family xox Love your chutney looks scrummy.

  7. Your snowflakes are lovely. Where are you getting the patterns from? I'd like to have a go at some myself, so far the pattern I've used that I like best is the one from Attic 24, but I know that there are lots more out there...

  8. All very inspirational! Love the tree decs, but like Penelope am interested in what you used......I was looking at fimo and modelling clay only yesterday, but would never have thought of the doily imprint. The chutney sounds lovely, maybe add that to my traditionally long Christmas list.

  14. You are extremely well organised Victoria. Your chutney looks amazing and your snowflakes are gorgeous, I've bought myself a snowflake book but that's as far as it goes at the minute.

  17. Wow, flippin' 'eck I wish I was as organised! ha ha!

Your snowflakes are amazing. I bought a snowflake crochet book several months back to make some, but if I ever get round to doing any for this year it would be a miracle!

I have made some clay decorations, using doilies like you have, with the kids, but we used regular clay and it's never as good as fimo. I do have some fimo stashed away to make more snowflakes for the tree this year but I need a kid free house and a lurgy free body to start on those!

Your chutney looks amazing too, I bet it made the house smell all wonderful and christmassy! I need to go light a candle now to feel it all!

    Have a lovely day Victoria!
