Made by me :: Snap frame purse

I attended a 'how to make a snap frame purse' workshop on Saturday and came away with this...

I am so, so proud of myself. I absolutely love it.

It's fully lined with co-ordinating striped fabric...

and just look at these perfectly matched seams...

My MIL came too and she made a bag using some bird print fabric from Ikea...

I think we both did a good job and I can see many more of these being made. In fact I made another the same evening using a thrifted tablecloth...

This bag is lined with some ditzy floral fabric and I included a small pocket...

I have plans to make one with a doily on, something like this...

But until I find some suitable fabric I'll just enjoying admiring these...

  1. brilliant - so nice to have a go at something new, wish I had better sewing skills! Glad you are enjoying your Kindle - I got one for my birthday in 2010 and now read more books on the kindle than paper ones - just finished reading a trilogy(not my usual cup of tea) and cannot stop raving about it to people:-

  8. They are so pretty well done! I've only ever made framed purses with knitted pouches which you sew onto the frame (which is a real pain) but I must try these. Gorgeous!

  19. How neat and professional they look. I love snap frame purses, and have a couple of frames put by waiting for me to get the know-how of how to make them up. They've been there for quite a while!
Well done, best wishes Karen x

  24. Clever you! They are really lovely and each one so individual. I had a go with some frames before Christmas and they nearly drove me round the bend! I definitely need to be taught how to do it properly.

  31. Oh so pretty! I made clutch purses for myself and bridesmaids in the same way - SO satisfying. I love the idea of using a thrifted tablecloth, I have one my Grandma gave me but it has some gravy stains on(!) so perhaps I can cut it up to make another purse or for another project. Thanks for the inspiration! hx
