On the hook

Happy New Year to you all!

Phew, it feels good to be back to some kind of routine today. The children went back to school today (feels like they were off forever as they broke up on the 16th Dec), and, to be honest, I think they were both ready for it.  'Come on, Mummy!' #2 exclaimed as I was loitering in the big playground waiting for #1 to go into school. He couldn't get to nursery fast enough!

Having said that, I've only had a mornings worth of peace and quiet as the plasterers have arrived at lunchtime to skim the walls in one of the bedrooms...

So, currently on the hook...

a very, very pink Hello Kitty scarf for #1. Much too much pink, but I think that's practically compulsory when it comes to Hello Kitty...

a granny square blanket inspired (to the point of almost blatant copying) by Vanessa's beautiful Evening Sun blanket. Well, it's different yarn and a slightly different square, but I have used a very similar colour palette and a circle-in-a-square type granny square...

and a couple of granny squares for Stocki's 'Beautiful Blogger Blanket'. A genius idea where you contribute a granny square to a blanket that you're then in with a chance of winning. Both squares come from Jan Eaton's '200 crochet blocks'.  The first is #94, the Gothic square (camera has struggled to accurately capture the greens) and the second is #197, Fretwork...

What are you making?

  4. Beautiful squares! I have a granny blanket to finish, and a hat for a friend, and then I'm starting on another afghan as soon as the yarn arrives, and carrying on with my other granny square blanket lol. Not enough hours in the day! x

  5. I too love that blanket on Coco Roses blog. Yours is lovely too, really nice colours. I love the yellow, pink and brown together and it is a particuarly nice yellow. I notice that your squares are all joined very neatly and going in the same direction. Most people's aren't, not even in the tutorials I have found. I would love to know how you organise your squares and in what order you join them. Others have the joining stitches showing first on one side and then the other but all yours seem to be on the same side making them lovely and smooth.

The Hello Kitty scarf is lovely and yes it needs to be very pink.

I'm trying to finish off a hot water bottle cover which I was very gung ho about before Christmas but that I have lost all enthusiasm for. Also a blanket which I have been working on now for over a year and must get finished soon.

I'm not a pink person but I have to agree Hello Kitty must be pink!!!
I'm spring cleaning the house so I'm trying not to 'make' or else I'll get distracted and not finish my cleaning! ;)
    Happy Creative 2012 Victoria.

  17. The scarf is awesome (wish I had a daughter!), and LOVE your blanket! Love the colour combinations. I took mine away with me at Christmas to carry on with, but ran out of a colour and only got 3 rows done. I was annoyed as I had got back into the swing of it! I am determined to get it done by march though....we shall see!

right off for a cuppa then i'm going to come back and have a proper read of all your posts I have missed!

    Happy New Year Victoria!
