The trouble with a kindle...

I was lucky enough to be given a kindle for Christmas, but, due to a very bad reading habit of mine, I'm finding it very frustrating.

Turns out it's not easy to skim read ahead/read the ending first!

I'm sure it's possible...

Maybe I should read the user instructions?

  1. Ha ha...so true! Also, I am so used to touching the screen to get to the next 'page' on my iphone that I keep frantically stabbing the glass with my finger... :)x

  2. I find my kindle real challenging to use as I keep reading faster and faster to make the % change lol.

  3. Yes, that is a design fault isn't it? Like Deco Cat, I keep watching the percentage change. But I do like the convenience of having it to take in my handbag without much weight.

  4. I'm not sure about these kindles, my Son had said he will get me one for my Birthday but I am not sure if I want one.
Can you look at pages that you have just read ? because sometimes I like to go back if I need to check something etc.
Not sure how I would get on with one but handy to just pop in your bag.

  5. I prefer to snuggle down with a book, I love the smell, the turning of the pages, the feel of it and the look of the front cover lol however the kindle has it's advantages and there's a huge market out there, but call me old fashioned I'm going to stick with my books :)

  7. Oh, I considered getting a Kindle this Christmas (and last birthday!) but decided against it...I'll be interested to hear how you get on with it and whether you find a way to skip to the end!

  8. I find that a similar problem. I used to go to the last page just to see how many pages I had left to read. I quite like the fact that it tells me what % I am up to :D

  9. I have that habit too, although I don't/can't do it so much with a kindle! I think the only options would be to either go to the end and page back or use the table of contents to go to the final chapter. Or I suppose you could see how many pages/locations the book has (press Menu when you're reading and it's down the bottom) and pick one near the end and go to that. But it's not the easiest really. Amazon should add an option to jump to a "sneak peak of the ending"!

  10. You've made me smile! In the nicest possible way, of course! I have never used a kindle so I cannot give you any advice.

Happy, peaceful, creative new year to you.

  11. I'm loving my kindle......I sometimes used to go to the end, to check if the ending was happy and I don't like surprises!
But I'm ok with the whole kindle thing!

Waiting to get a cover now, can't throw it in my bag as it is!
