Made by me :: round knitted cushion

Thanks to all the people that offered advice on where to get a round cushion pad. John Lewis (and I have two to choose from) only had square ones. Dunelm Mill had a round one but that was too big, so I bought a smallish square cushion pad and used the feathers out of it to make my own 40cm round one.

I quite enjoyed knitting this cushion cover - it was quick to make, the longest row being only 44 stitches, and easy to do whilst watching television.

I like the design of it, the way the short rows create a spiral effect and the wrapped stitches are deliberately not picked up. I also like the way the button is pulled tight in the centre. The yarn is by Rico and was a little bit splitty and, although it claims to be a dk weight, was a little bit finer than I'm used to for a dk yarn.

needles :: 4mm
yarn :: Rico Essentials Cotton dk, shade 03, silver grey
pattern :: round cushion from 'Simple Knitting' by Erica Knight

Wishing you all a great weekend x

  1. I love the cushion! I may have to try knitting one sometime. I have been crocheting for awhile but recently started knitting. This would be a great project to give me some more practice. :)

    Have a great weekend!

  3. Cushion looks great, you must be pleased. I need to make about 4 more cushions for our sofas, I might have a go at this one. I think I may even have the book already!

  4. I love it!!!
    A couple of months ago now I bought a couple of old round cushions from a second hand shop, they had crocheted dollies on them.
    Well I've taken the dollies off of them and I use them for other things now, and I cushions are just waiting for a new cover.
    So who knows made be I'll give these a go, thanks for the inspiration!!!!

  5. Beautiful cushion - I'm terrified of knitting though, so I'm in awe of people who can. I'm having problems finding round cushion pads myself - silly me -I crocheted the sides of the cover before buying the pad. :)

    1. I love your cushion. I can knit but after discovering crochet, I've no patience with knitting. You have my admiration.

  7. Well that is lovely. Really simple but gorgeous. In my "day dream" bedroom that would look perfect. i am hoping to convince the Mr to redecorate this year so you may see a little copy cat springing up in the future!
