Off the hook :: A friend for 'Flower'

Flower was the name given to the Spring Bunny I made a couple of weeks ago. Now he has a friend called Petal...

Flower (owned by #2) is much loved to the point where some of his stuffing is escaping already. I do like it when the things I make are appreciated. When #1 found a new crocheted bunny by her bed on Sunday morning she told me I was the best Mummy in the world :-)

I wasn't expecting Petal to be be bigger than Flower - not all cotton dks are equal it would seem. 50g of Debbie Bliss cotton has only slightly less yardage than 50g of Rowan handknit (approx 92yds and 93yds, respectively) so I wouldn't have expected such a difference for a small project like this one. Especially as I'm sure both bunnies were made with the same size hook.

Hook :: 3.5mm
Yarn :: Debbie Bliss Cotton DK

I've another finished amigurumi knocking about somewhere. When I dig it out of the pit my daughter likes to call a bedroom I'll show it to you.

It's been a craft-packed weekend here, actually... as if a crafty party and 2 amigurumi wasn't enough, #1 was given a sewing kit for her birthday and she seems very keen on it so I've been helping a lot with that. You can imagine the kind of thing - giant plastic needles and thread as thick as a shoe lace.

And we've fashioned a dolphin out of a piece of cardboard and some emulsion test pots. This is for school of course. Why else?

  3. Weird how much yarns can differ when they are about the same weight etc...

    I did smile at a boy rabbit being called Flower. How very modern!

  9. These are very cute, I love the idea of lining the ears with a pretty fabric, it really sets them apart from the rest. I'm going to link to you in my next blog post if that's ok, on http://planetpenny.co.uk as I'm on the look out for links to crochet patterns for the Planet Penny Cotton Club. So glad I found your blog!
