Small things

In the last 5 days the hall, stairs and landing have been taken over by the decorators. I have been spending a lot of time out of the house because I can't even go for a pee without having to squeeze past ladders or risk getting paint on my clothes. And let's not even talk about the dust they created sanding down the woodwork.

Let's talk, instead, about some of the little things that have been keeping me happy...

frothy blossom appearing as if from nowhere...

finding the cat basking in the sun...

a pot of tenacious pansies that have survived the winter...

drinking coffee from a glass (a habit I picked up in Australia)...

fancy daffodils...

and a finished WIP...

  1. I can't wait for our trees and flowers to blossom. So pretty.

  2. I really hate having people doing things in my house. Its nothing personal but it makes me feel all self conscious and fidgety. Hope it'll be done soon. Its definitely the worse area of the house to be done isn't it. I had three bathrooms done last year - I felt I'd married the builder by the end of it. I missed him when it was all done. Never mind he's coming back to do some decorating for me soon! Lily. xxx

  3. Love your cushion, the swirl in it is lovely in it's simplicity.

I can remember as a kid going on a French exchange and they drank their morning coffee or chocolate out of a small bowl which you afterwards had your cereal in, I was really taken with it at the time and bought myself a bowl, it all felt terribly continental....maybe I'll dig it out for tomorrow's breakfast!

    1. All the things in your post would make me happy too. Perhaps not the chaos of decorators, but it sounds like something seriously exciting is happening to your house.

  7. Lovely small pleasures to take you away from builders and decorators! I drink my coffee mainly in cups without handles and people find that funny. Loving the blossom out at the moment. they make such perfect photos.

Hope the sun stays shining for you and that you get to have a great Easter Break with the Kiddos.

    Take care

  8. I'm in Australia & I can't order a latte 'cos it comes in one of those glasses so I have to order a cappuccino which is served with a cup & saucer !
