This and that

Hello! Long time no see. I think that's the longest I've gone without posting. I find I really have nothing to say - I think I may have bloggers block. I haven't been commenting on other blogs as much as I should, either, so apologies for that!

I have nothing creative to show you as I haven't made anything (although I have plenty of things I could be getting on with). I find I am procrastinating with the dress I made, although I can't procrastinate for much longer. It needs hemming before Friday because we are off to a wedding in London at the weekend. Two nights away child-free. I can hardly wait. Keep your fingers crossed that the weather stays warm and sunny, won't you?

Yesterday, after swimming lessons we spent the afternoon in the garden, playing skittles and blowing bubbles. Simple family fun. And this is what I've been up to, I guess, spending time with my family and sorting out the house. I cleaned out a cupboard and found things I'd forgotten we ever had.

I've been spending a fair bit of time helping out in school. I helped the nursery children with an art project and went on the school trip to a farm. The latter was exhausting - lots of fresh air and trying to keep your eye on 4 small children all at once makes you very, very tired!

Our poor old cat has been diagnosed with bladder stones and put on a special diet that will, hopefully, shrink them so that we can avoid having to have them removed surgically. An operation would cost £450 and I can think of a lot of things I'd rather spend the money on. Although maybe I should have been spending it already - on pet insurance.

And Britain has gone Jubilee packaging crazy. I am regretting buying a new jar of marmite just before these hit the shops...

and I'm the only person in the house that eats it so I can't really justify buying another one. M&S have come up trumps with their packaging, so what I have bought is a tin of biscuits...

and some chocolate teacakes decorated with jubilee bunting...

So, a bit of a random post, but hopefully, it'll help me get back into the swing of things blogging wise...

see you soon x

  1. Hello Victoria
That was a very heart warming post!
Spending time with family and just being...is the best sort of time.
I'v been out of the blog loop too...likewise family life is all consuming both good and not so good.,
I am in London next week...but can't believe I am flying back to Sweden and missing all the jubilee celebrations ;-(. Think I may have to open my tea room early for 1 day just to celebrate and show our patriotism here in the forest I grabbed myself a tin of those biscuits and 3 packs of the tea cakes at the beginning of the month when I was in M&S...so many lovely things to choose from .
Well have a good week ahead

  2. I know what you mean! I feel I have lost my funny and no one wants to hear my waffle....

How I enjoyed this post though, a post about a girl who crafts but spent a while living her life. That's as it should be as Mary Poppins would say.

    xxx

  4. Hi Victoria,
Family time is the most precious time, isn't it? :)
I hope your kitten gets better soon, poor thing.
Thank you for sharing that beautiful M&S tin. So far it is the most beautiful I have seen around.

  5. ah, sunshine...what a treat!
We are off for 2 days in London WITHOUT children too (Thus and Fri) to see Sweeny Todd - SO cant wait. If it was sunny too it would be the proverbial icing!
I too have been woo'd by M+S packaging - went for the other tin option, now have YOUR tin envy, need to get it too. Also got the teacakes, ate a whole tray in a day. (alone)
Must sort out our club soon...fee x (I'm not a completer finisher!)

  8. Hi Victoria
I HAD to buy some of that Ma'amite as we love love marmite in this house and I am crazy about the normal, let alone this jubilee packaging. Have you seen the bill board posters with the love it or hate it corgi's advertising this bottle. I would give anything for one of those :0) xox Always lovely to read your gorgeous blog

  9. You should buy the new Ma'amite even if you have a new pot just started, it lasts for ages and ages. I buy a big pot and I am the only one who eats it too, it disappears eventually!

  10. How lovely to hear you have been relaxing and having fun with your family. I think you should get the marmite too, such a simple pleasure that you should indulge!

  11. Tee hee, I also bought that tim of biscuits. M&S are good at tins. I also have their giant custard cream tin and their giant bourbon tin! Sorry you didn't get your trip away at the weekend. Hope everything is ok

  12. Poor kitty! Lots of love and hugs to you both.

I'm terribly jealous of your Marmite. The factory here was anihilated by earthquakes so there is no marmite to be had until it is rebuilt. Vegemite just sin't the same :(
