and because I've long been admiring the crocheted wash cloths I see occasionally on the interwebs (like these and these), I bought a couple of balls of said yarn and hooked up two small cloths...
The cloths are lovely and soft, but I must say that I found the yarn to be annoyingly splitty.
There are lots of washcloth/dishcloth patterns to be found. I used the 'Oh so soft baby washcloth' pattern by Theresa Grant, available as a free download from Ravelry. They were quick and easy to work up (splittyness aside) and I think the stitch pattern is really pretty.
Hook :: 3.5mm
Yarn :: Rico Creative Cotton which is an aran weight yarn
Pattern :: as linked above

That is a pretty pattern, thanks for sharing the link!

I haven't tried that cotton yet - I usually go with the Sugar & Cream and the Peaches & Creme. Your wash cloths look very nice. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh they look lovely, I really want to buy some cotton yarn but have no idea which to choose!

ReplyDeleteI've had the same 'splitty' problem with cotton yarn. Have a safe & fun 4th!
ReplyDeleteIt's Bitchy Splitty isn't it?! But the colours are lovely and it is nice and soft. Those wash clothes are gorgeous. Really lovely. I'll have to pin 'em!

M'enanten aquests colors!
ReplyDeleteThat's the trouble with cotton, it always splits like mad, but you did well to make those wash-cloths. Pretty too.
ReplyDeleteThey look fab. I love creative cotton.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree about the cotton being splitty, it's a right pain but does crochet up lovely.
ReplyDeleteHope you are well Victoria!

I have just started using Rico Creative Cotton and have made two little sun hats for my neices. I didn't have trouble with splitting but maybe it was because I used a 5mm hook. I am a Stylecraft fan because of the vibrant colours and haven't found cotton that lives up to the Stylecraft but I think the Rico is close. Lily. xxx
