Off the hook :: Teeny tiny kittens

What do you do when you're stuck indoors all day waiting for a radiator (that never turns up) and a man to measure the floors for carpets (who does)? Carry out the long overdue vacuuming and mopping of the kitchen floor? No, it's far better to make teeny tiny amigurumi kittens instead...

You can find the pattern for these in 'Amigurumi World' by Ana Paula Rimoli.

I think the grey one is my favourite.

Hook :: 4mm and 3.5mm
Yarn :: Rowan Handknit cotton
Pattern :: Tiny ami cat by Ana Paula Rimoli.  Ana's Patterns are also available on her blog and through her Etsy shop.

After making those I picked up this blanket again...

It's been sitting neglected in a box for a long time now, the reason being that I don't like the join-as-you-go method when the outer rounds are different colours. I find I spend too long dithering over what colour combination to make the next square as I don't want it to be too similar to the squares around it. I know that in the end it won't really matter, but still, I won't use this method of joining again unless all the squares are bordered in the same colour.

  1. At least you got to do some crochet while waiting for everyone. Isn't it annoying when they don't turn up. The cats are so cute.

  6. Cutie-cutie kitties! I so agree with you about the joining as you go method with different colour borders. The method is so quick though...how perplexing! Blanket looks great xx

  7. Cute kitties! I don't like the join-as-you-go method either. I'm not keen on the little stitch that joins one square to the next, it draws my eye! Plus I prefer to have ALL my squares finished before I decide upon the final design :)

  9. Waiting around at home for deliveries or jobs to be done by people who may or may not arrive is definitely the time to absorb yourself in a nice crafty project! That's what I do! I love the sweet little kittens and your blanket is looking gorgeous too.
