Week 3:
1. A bag of Seville oranges destined to become marmalade. We're down to our last jar of homemade marmalade so these have appeared in the shops just in the nick of time.
2. Frost feathers on the windscreen of the car. Who is old enough to remember when we got these on the windows of our houses? This might seem like a weird thing to be happy about, but they look so pretty and at least it's not raining!
3. Going into school to listen to the reception children reading. The enthusiasm of the children is really quite something - they are practically elbowing each other out of the way to be next to read. It's an hour of my week well spent, that's for sure.
4. Another visit to the fabulous 'The First Cut' exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery. I had the children with me last time I was there so didn't really have the chance to have a proper look around - I was too busy trying to stop #2 from touching the exhibits. I must say it is astonishing what you can do with a pair of scissors (and a huge amount of talent, imagination and patience). The exhibition closes on 27 January, so there's still a fortnight in which to see it if you can.

ReplyDeleteI can certainly remember frost feathers - in fact until we had new windows in our house, I'm pretty sure we had them here. Certainly, ice on the inside was common.
