52 weeks of happy - 8/52

Blue skies and sunshine.

A spot of thread crochet in an evening.

A day out in the Lake District (home to my in-laws) that included a trip to Castlerigg stone circle. I'd never been there before, it is stunning - set on a plateau surrounded by some of the highest peaks in Cumbria. We were lucky to visit on the most beautiful bright day - the light was low and a little hazy and there was snow still on the hills.

Grasmere gingerbread. It just has to be done when you're passing Grasmere. It's baked to a secret recipe and, if you've never had it, is hard to describe - it's very gingery, crumbly, crunchy and chewy. The children don't really like it, which is a bonus for me.

  10. Gingerbread, yum. Is the stone circle on protected land?

    1. It is on National Trust land (so it is owned and managed by them) but it isn't protected as such as it is very easily accessed.

  19. Wow, the photo of Castlerigg is stunning. Haven't been there but I have been to Grasmere to visit Barney's Newsbox and their amazing jigsaw collection. I think I'm one of the few people in the world who isn't that keen on Grasmere gingerbread :-(
