Something quick and easy that won't distract from the blanket for too long.
One of my Japanese crochet books is called 'First Crochet Lace' and I bought* it as a birthday present to myself last September. It is full of utterly beautiful images.
After dithering for while over what to make, I made myself a little crochet cuff.
and then I made what can only be described as a crochet frippery. I don't know what it is supposed to actually be used for. Perhaps it has no use beyond the decorative.
It is just a length of crocheted trim with small motifs attached at intervals. It might be useless but I love it.
It can live on my equally useless** coat peg for a while...

** useless because it'd fall off the wall if you tried to hang a coat on it!

Oh it is so very pretty, so what if it doesn't have a purpose other than looking beautiful, that's purpose enough for me! :)
ReplyDeleteI love Pomadour24 ~ perhaps a little too much!! ;)
Everything looks really nice. And yes I understand, when you are working on something for so long, it's good just to change for a bit.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!

Nothing is useless if it has a use - even if its only use is to make you happy!
ReplyDeleteI love it!

we all need a bit of useless frippery once in a while! I break off from blankets quite a bit to make quick things too - refreshes you a bit. Heather x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, so beautiful. How difficult is it working from Japanese charts?
ReplyDeleteLove the crocheted cuff - it's a perfect touch of pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I do so love your blue frippery!
ReplyDeleteI will check out Pomadour24, thank you for the link.....

Beautiful lace pieces, they don't need to have a purpose do they?
ReplyDeleteI don't need to know about this pomadoodah do I? It's not going to help with the addiction??

PS how weird is our local weather right now? I got caught in a weird snow/sleet storm this morning and could still see blue sky!
oooh and meant to say...LOVE your useless fripperies. I quite often make things with no purpose - reckon it's the best way to learn the art. f x
ReplyDeleteFrip, frip hooray. It's lovely. We'll thing of something, if we must.
ReplyDeletePretty adornment for a mirror? I love the colour too.Nothing wrong with a bit of frippery now and then.
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't need a bit of frippery every now and then? I've never held to the view that everything we do or make has to have some practical use or purpose, sometimes it's good to do things 'just because' and you have a wonderful little garland that I'm sure will make a great decoration. I like Nana Go-Gos suggestion of a mirror adornment :)
ReplyDeleteI love your blue frippery, it's very pretty, and I smiled because I have that exact little tin bird waiting to be hung in Florence's garden. :)
ReplyDeleteUseless....never.....
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you smile, gives you joy it's never useless, no matter what others think.
Love the crochet trim and who doesn't love a gorgeous crochet cuff...wonderful little projects.
