Free pattern :: Bunny egg cosy

There must be 1,001 crochet patterns available for egg cosies, but just in case you haven't seen one you like yet, here's another...

Bunny Egg Cosy

The cosy is worked amigurumi-style in one continuous spiral. You might find it helpful to mark the first stitch of the round with a stitch marker.

Terminology is UK.

I used cotton dk and a 4mm hook.

Cosy

R1: ch 2, work 6dc into second ch from hook (6dc)
R2: 2dc in each dc (12dc)
R3: *dc 1, 2dc in next dc* 6 times (18dc)
R4: *dc 2, 2dc in next dc* 6 times (24dc)
R5 – 11: dc in each dc around (24dc)
To finish make a sl st into next dc of and fasten off. Weave in ends.

You should have something like this...

You could stop now, if you like, and decorate it with a bit of ribbon or ric-rac.

Bunny Ears (make 2)

R1: Ch 9
R2: 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1htr in each of next 6ch, 5htr in last chain, now work down other side of chain working over yarn tail as you go, 1htr in each of next 6ch, 1dc in last ch, sl st into turning ch, fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing ear to head.

You should have something that looks like this...

Cut pieces of felt or fabric and stitch to ears, then attach ears to head.

Finishing

Embroider eyes and nose and weave in any loose ends.

And there you have it.

Although this is my own pattern, it has obviously been influenced by some of the amigurumi bunnies I have made in the past. Such as the ones in these and these.

I've had this post in draft since before Easter last year when I made the bunny below. This one has felt eyes that have been glued on.

I'd love to know if any of you make some of these, so please let me know!

Happy crocheting x
